Daily Aromatherapy is suggested to be read first in the trilogy.

Daily Aromatherapy brings nature’s aromas and their positive, transforming abilities into your daily life. Transforming, as it is used in this book, means shifting your state of mind. Combined with your intention—what you passionately want to achieve—the exercises in this book can assist you is every aspect of your life from feeling secure in the world to strengthening your spirituality.

At an aromatherapy conference in San Francisco, Jeffrey Yuen, a master of classical Chinese medicine, explained that essential oils are used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in a variety of ways and that one of the key ways was for transformation. He said, simply and eloquently, that “one cannot use essential oils without being transformed.” The oils work well because they “connect with the essence of an individual by activating the senses.”

Using aromas for shifting your state of mind is not new. It has been used through the ages by many cultures to assist in a variety of transformation techniques, such as meditation, affirmation, visualization, and prayer.

When assigning an association or theme to a particular essential oil for transformation purposes, it is based it on the oil’s subtle energy properties. These properties affect the subtle anatomy associated with the human body (energy centers and subtle bodies). They gently coax erratic cellular vibration into a harmonious or intended vibration. As we explore these subtle properties, the format of Daily Aromatherapy follows the seasons of the year as they correlate to the symbolic seasons of the evolving human soul.

  • Spring is the season of optimism and new beginnings. It is the time to clear away the old and begin anew. It represents the hopeful, childhood years and the feminine.

  • Summer is the season of activity and manifesting goals and desires. It represents the dynamic, young adult years, and the masculine.

  • Autumn is the season to reflect on life, to accept, to forgive, and to heal. It represents personal growth and the compassionate mid-life years.

  • Winter is the season to rest, restore, and rejuvenate. It is a time to prioritize and focus on what is most dear. Winter represents the wise, spirit-filled senior years.

Excerpt From Daily Aromatherapy

Following are the intention exercises for the first week of March, the first month of spring.

Spring is the season of the soul that signals optimism and hope. It is a time to clear away and release that which no longer serves you—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—so you can experience rebirth, inspiration, and renewed creativity. It is a time for new beginnings, new experiences, new relationships, and new perspectives on existing relationships. Spring is the season that represents the childhood stage of your life and also the feminine.

March is the first spring month—a time for clearing, cleansing, and releasing, so that you can move forward, unburdened, toward your hopes and dreams.

While standing comfortably with your feet slightly apart, close your eyes. Take 3 slow, relaxed breaths. Open your eyes. Put a drop of Lemongrass on a tissue and inhale the aroma through your nose. Pause and inhale again. Put the tissue down.

With your dominant hand, make 3 circles (up on the left, down on the right) in front of your forehead, your heart, and your stomach, without touching. Then, raise your hand in front of your mouth, with your palm up, and blow forcefully across your palm with the intention that you are releasing all negative energy and negative thoughts. Inhale the aroma again and circle 2 times in the same places but in reverse (up on the right and down on the left.) Feel cleansed and free of negativity.

Aromatic activity with Lemongrass

Sit quietly. Close your eyes. Take 3 slow, relaxed breaths. Think of one incident, thought, or feeling to be spoken out loud in order for it to be released. This could be something recent or something from the past. It could be correcting a lie, righting a wrong, or telling someone you care about them. Hold it in your mind. Open your eyes.

Put a drop of Lemongrass on a tissue and inhale the aroma through your nose. Pause and inhale again. Stand up and speak out loud, openly, and freely what it is you want and need to say. You may say it in few words or in many. When you are finished, sense how you are feeling. Describe your feelings out loud.

Sit quietly. Close your eyes. Take 3 slow, relaxed breaths. Open your eyes. Put a drop of Lemongrass on a tissue and inhale the aroma through your nose. Pause and inhale again.

Close your eyes again. Visualize a beautiful garden. Imagine weeding and cleaning this garden. Do any plants need pruning? Are there any plants that need to be removed? As you tend to this garden, know that you are making positive changes in yourself—clearing away unneeded thoughts and emotions, allowing for new ideas and personal growth. Now look at this garden, cleared and ready for a new life.

Lemongrass helps you to clear away mental and emotional blocks so that you are ready for personal growth.
